Latest digital projects allow patients to access health appointments via the local library.
‘Near Me’ is an online health consultancy service, which allows patients to join appointments from home, or from public areas like libraries. It is currently being rolled out across Scotland for a variety of appointments, with over 20,000 consultations held weekly. The service offers patients increased flexibility; it reduces the travel time to appointments, making it both environmentally friendly and cost-efficient, while simultaneously allowing patients to be supported throughout the process by allowing others to join on the video consultation, regardless of where they are.
Based on the results of the pilot, the service is due to be installed in libraries across Scotland as a feature of their core services, which is hoped to lead to further rollout in similar public organisations.
Here at Pogo Digital Healthcare we admire any form of digital innovation that improves patient and clinician experience, which is why we have created our product MyTailoredTalks. This is an app that shares some of the benefits of Near Me – by allowing patients increased flexibility in how they manage the effects of long covid and providing support for them throughout. The app allows people living with long covid to access information that is relevant to them, with care provided in a new pathway, supporting them from their GP’s appointment through up to 12 weeks of care from Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland.
